Gift Policy (May 2023)
a. Monetary
The VSCS Libraries welcome donations of money designated for the purchase of library materials. Over the years, these gifts from faculty, students, alumni, and private donors have significantly enhanced the libraries and helped to develop our collections. *Monetary donations can be campus specific.
b. Physical Donations
The VSCS Libraries are grateful for donations of books and other materials supporting the curriculum and research needs of the Vermont State University and Community College of Vermont. However, the library reserves the right to choose materials best serving these purposes. Gifts may be added to the collection, sold with the proceeds to benefit the Libraries, recycled when possible, or discarded. Please contact the Libraries prior to bringing physical gifts on location.
The Physical Gift Policy is as follows:
Library and donor responsibilities:
- The Libraries will not provide appraisals of donated items or provide fair market value of items for tax deductions. Gifts can be acknowledged in writing upon request to be used as a receipt of goods.
- In most instances, the Libraries will not pick up items to be donated.
- The Libraries reserve the right to refuse to accept physical donations for any reason.
