The VSCS Libraries' online resources includes databases of scholarly online journals and articles, eBook collections,  current newspaper articles and archives, reference, and streaming media. These resources are reviewed annually to assess their cost-effectiveness and relevance to programs offered at the VSC.

Database Changes

We evaluate our resources annually and consider the following data:

• Number of searches
• Full text views
• Price range and average inflation
• Cost per search and/or full-text view, if available
• Programs/Departments impacted

We will also consider new databases for our online collection based on requests from faculty, administrators, staff, and students. Criteria for include:

• Accessibility and usability: on campus as well as remote, license terms, and ease of use.
• Content and scope: relative to existing resources and curricular integration.
• Relevance and currency: timeliness, update frequency and long-term value.
• Usage and cost: number of courses, course enrollment and overall cost to acquire.
